Shore Excursion for the Norwegian Sun

Huacas del Sol y La Luna / Trujillo / Chan Chan / Huanchaco

10:00 a.m. - We go out from the Port to Huacas del Sol and La Luna.

10:30 a.m. - We arrive at the archaeological complex to visit Huaca de La Luna (Moon temple).
The excavation have been concentrated in the main platform which has an area of 90 m. on each side and 20 m. height five superposed temples have been discovered, they were built in about 600 years. Each temple was used for about 100 years, after that, the temple was covered with blocks of adobe to build a new one above it.

12:00 p.m.
- We go to the historic center of Trujillo.

12:20 p.m. - We stop at the Main Square, our tour guide will explain you about the most important details of its architecture and history. You will have 10 minutes to take pictures.

12:40 p.m. - We go out to Chan Chan city.

1:00 p.m. - We are in the archaeological site of Chan Chan. The tour is for about one hour.
Chan Chan was the political and administrative capital of the Chimu Kingdom.Its original extension covered about 24 km2, nowadays the area has been reduced to 14 Km2, that is why is considered “The World’s largest Mud Brick City ”. On November 28, 1986 , Chan Chan was declared “World Heritage” by UNESCO.



2:00 p.m. - This is the time to go to Huanchaco.

2:20 p.m. - We arrive in Huanchaco to see the reed boats. This ancient fishing village has preserved the ancestral use of the small horse reed boats or "Caballitos de Totora" that were used by the Moche and the Chimu civilizations. These fishing boats were so important, they were represented on the ceramic and the walls of Chan Chan.

- Time for lunch.

3:20 p.m. - We return to Salaverry port.

4:00 p.m. - We arrive in the port.
